Revisiting Hit & Stay
with the directors Joe Tropea & Skizz Cyzyk
Saturday, November 5, from 2 to 3:30 pm
Historical Society of Baltimore County & Baltimore City Historical Society 11th Annual Joint Program
Join directors Joe Tropea and Skizz Cyzyk as they show selected excerpts of their documentary Hit & Stay (2013) featuring the Baltimore Four and the Catonsville Nine nearly 10 years after its release. Tropea and Cyzyk will participate in a Q&A afterward, discussing the making of Hit & Stay as well as other protest films they have worked on including Sickies Making Films and Lights of Baltimore.
About Hit & Stay: a history of faith and resistance: A documentary about priests and nuns who protested the Vietnam War by breaking into draft boards, destroying draft records, and then waiting around to be arrested. Their actions inspired a movement, which shaped the anti-war movement and helped bring an end to the draft. DVDs will be available for purchase after the program.
Before and after the program, the local complementary exhibit of Voices & Votes: Democracy in America will be open to all guests, featuring a student film by students from Pikesville High School. The exhibit also covers other local protests, civil rights, women’s suffrage, immigrant rights, and local elections.
