A Special Speaker Series Event

with guest speaker Robert Deford

This is a proud Maryland story – a story of grapes and wine and a family that have flourished by being planted in a good place, sending down deep roots, and staying put.

Boordy Vineyards is part of a large family farm, named “Long Green” on the old plats. The farm has been a model of local agriculture since the early 18th century as successive generations have worked its fields, harvested crops, and tended livestock. The Deford family ownership of Boordy Vineyards dates to 1980, but their connection to the historic Maryland winery began decades earlier as grape growers for the founders, Philip & Jocelyn Wagner of Baltimore. The licensing of Boordy in 1945 set it in rare company in America at that time, as it does today with the celebration of their 80th anniversary as an independent family winery.

Robert Deford will speak about Boordy’s history and wine, as well as highlighting the stories of the creative reuse of their historic buildings.

Small tasting and light fare provided. More wine will be available for purchase.
